Eloping at the lake

Some couples want a guest list of two. Others want their closest people standing around them on a granite shoreline, then a long dinner somewhere warm. If you're planning a Lake Tahoe elopement or intimate wedding, we'd love to help you make it feel like yours.

We're Owen and Evyn, a husband-and-wife team based in Loomis, in the foothills between Sacramento and the mountains. Owen photographs your day. Evyn handles everything behind the scenes, so the planning stays simple, and she second-shoots when a day calls for it.

An honest note before you scroll

We haven't published a Lake Tahoe gallery yet, so we won't show you photos and call them Tahoe. The closest thing in our portfolio is Ryen & Sam's intimate ceremony among the redwoods in Muir Woods: a small, outdoor day built around the two of them and the place they chose. That's the kind of day we love. See Ryen & Sam's ceremony.

Planning an outdoor elopement

Permits. Many parks and public spaces require a permit for ceremonies or photography. Getting and paying for permits is your responsibility, but we're happy to point you in the right direction.

Hikes and rough roads. If your spot involves hiking, long drives, or rough roads, tell us when you book so we can plan time and travel properly.

Timing and light. Mountain light changes fast. During your planning meeting we'll talk through the time of day, crowds at popular spots and a backup plan, so the day still works if the weather turns.

Rescheduling. Elopements include one free reschedule, which takes some of the pressure off planning around mountain weather.

Travel and lodging

Travel within 45 miles of Loomis is included. Lake Tahoe is farther than that, so travel is $1 per mile (one way), plus lodging for overnight trips, such as a sunrise ceremony. We'll list it in your quote up front. And if your plans take you beyond Northern California, we're always up for traveling.
